Lost Wax Casting Specialists

Lost Wax Casting services from Geoff Collier offer an ancient process dating back to 1700 BC Shang Dynasty China. Lost wax casting (also known as investment casting) is a complex procedure using wax models and is one of the most accurate forms of casting, producing intricate works with a superior standard of definition.

Lost Wax Castings

The Lost Wax Casting process is performed in-house by our specialist team of artisans who skilfully craft each individual item with great precision. The Lost Wax procedure begins with the original object or a carving of your design being coated in cold cure rubber, a material used for its preserving properties which ensures there is no discolouration to the original patina. A mold is formed which is then filled with wax, once set the mold is discarded and the remaining model is attached to a wax tree. The wax tree is then dipped in a slurry of plaster and placed in a kiln where the heat solidifies the plaster to a hard shell and melts out the wax ‘lost wax’ leaving a cast ready for molten brass/bronze to be poured in. Once your object has been cast and cooled, it is ready to be plated (see our electroplating and metal finishing services), polished and detailed. Our own range of lost wax products can be viewed and purchased in our online catalogue. Please contact us for more information on our lost wax casting services.
